Last weekend, Ichiro and I were in Kyoto to see the boxing match of the guy Ichiro knew through his blog. Unfortunately, he did not succeed in defending his title (that was his first defence) but we were both impressed to see his match as well as other match too.
While we were in Kyoto, we visited Shogunzuka Seiryuden. I have been there once before (here is the newsletter about Shogunzuka :

but Ichiro has not been there yet. Since he spent five years in kyoto while he was in uiversity, I wanted to take him there ( he is always reluctant to go to places where many people go...). He was amazed by the view from the deck and seemed to have been overcome by deep emothion. There are so many places to see in Kyoto - from old temples to small stylish cafe- there are so much charming places. You will never be tired walking in Kyoto.
Shogunzuka is now famous for the panoramic view of Kyoto(it used to be Kiyomizudera was the NO scenic place).
In Kyoto, there is Hantouro - thousands of lanterns are decorated from March 12th to March 21st. Shogunzuka Seiryuden has light up during the period and also some days in April and May also.
Here is the information:

If you are in Kyoto during these days, we are sure you will enjoy the fantastic scenery. This event is rather new, and also the Shogunzuka Seiryuden deck is rather new too(the deck has been built only two years ago) but I am sure you will enjoy!
There are many temples and scenic places in Kyoto and those places are often used as a motif on kimono and obi too.
You can see the most famous sight seeing place- Kiyomizu dera which is most famous for its deck:

Shogunzuka deck might become a motif of kimono in future??
For those who have visited Japan before, we hope these kimono or obi can be a nice reminder of your Japan trip. For those who are thinking about visiting Japan, we hope these kimono and obi can make you feel like seeing them in person:-)
