Dear Ichiroya newsletter readers,
Hello, How are you doing?
Megumi is writing.
It is season for 'sakura'(cherry blossom) to fall.
In present day, flower viewing means to see 'sakura'(cherry blossom), but until the Nara period, it was mainstream to see 'Ume'(Plum blossoms).
Many poems on the theme of 'Ume'(Plum blossoms) are listed in Manyo-shu (the oldest anthology of tanka).
They are more than the theme of cherry blossoms.
In Japan, His Majesty the Emperor is going to abdicate the throne this April, and Heisei era (1989.1.8- ) will be over.
In May, the name of the era changed to ‘Reiwa’.
This source is the poem of 'Ume'(Plum blossoms) from Manyo-shu (the oldest anthology of tanka).
Many Japanese people are talking about ‘Reiwa’.
There is no sadness of the death of His Majesty the Emperor, this time is a cheerful and enjoyable event.
His Majesty changed that way.
It is an unprecedented achievement.
'Sakura'(cherry blossom) became popular during the Heian period, and are still loved as national flowers.
Last year the cherry blossoms were so early, so I could not go to see at all.
Usually, in the year when the flowering of cherry blossoms is early, the flowering of other flowers is also early, so last year I did not enjoy lilies and various other flowers.
I enjoyed 'Sakura'(cherry blossom) this year.
I went to Nara after a long time.
Nara Prefecture is close to Osaka Prefecture, but The train is inconvenient and I can not go much.
I went to Oomiwa Shrine and Hase-dera Temple.
The cherry blossoms in Yoshino of Nara are blooming later than in other places, until about the beginning of May.
Because I wore kimono of various colors, I would like to recommend similar color kimono.
