Dear Ichiroya newsletter readers,
Hello, How are you doing?
Megumi is writing.
Higan (Equinoctial weeks) is passed.
Higan is the special days of praying to our ancestors.
When the equinox comes, we say good-bye to the heat or cold.
So, kimono season is coming!
Recently, I bought sandalwood fans.
It is my favorite because it smells very fragrant when I fan it.
The other day, I went to Kameoka in Kyoto to see Higan-bana(cluster‐amaryllis).
The flowers were not yet in full bloom on the day.
Higan-bana is poisonous, and has ominous aliases such as ‘shibito(dead person)-bana’ ‘Jigoku(hell)-bana’ ,etc.
Therefore, some people do not like it.
However, there is another name, ‘Manjushage’ that means flower of heaven in Sanskrit.
And I love this cute and red color flower.
I studied Sanskrit for half a year in my university.
But it was too difficult for me…
I respect the Buddhist students who have to learn Sanskrit.
Then I took a walk around Uji in Kyoto.
Those pictures are Byōdō-in temple and the Tale of Genji museum.
Uji is the place where the scene of Uji jujo (The Ten Quires of Uji) at the end of the Tale of the Genji.
The main character of this story is Kaoru, son of Hikaru-Genji.
Movies of the sad love story of heroin Ukifune are screened.
Incidentally, Maiko came to greet us when we went for dinner.
She was so cute…
I would like to recommend autumn design and princess design this time.

Thank you for reading this to the end.
See you next time.
